ANXIETY TREATMENT
Freedom from overwhelming thoughts and feelings
Freedom from overwhelming thoughts and feelings
The number of new clients seeking anxiety treatment in Colchester has grown at an incredible rate in recent years. From generalised anxiety disorder, to specific situational anxiety, the life-limiting condition is on the increase.
Anxiety can include terrifying panic attacks, or a chronic physical sense of discomfort in the body.
Most people who suffer from anxiety find it difficult to explain exactly why they feel anxious – which can cause distress in itself.
National anxiety charity Anxiety UK agrees that there is plenty of anecdotal evidence suggesting that hypnotherapy for anxiety can be hugely effective and beneficial to people suffering from anxiety.
My treatment for anxiety in Colchester uses hypnosis and other cutting-edge therapies to understand the root cause of your issues and resolve it. This also treats the physical symptoms of anxiety such as panic attacks. Hypnotherapy for anxiety can be extremely effective for reducing your psychological reaction to whatever is triggering your anxiety, as well as teaching you relaxation strategies that could mean anxiety become a thing of the past.
I provide therapy for anxiety in Colchester, Wivenhoe and Online.
As with all of my clients, you will be treated as an individual as there is no one-size-fits-all approach in successful therapy for anxiety.
My approach is unique, tailored completely to you. I have studied anxiety and trained in many different therapy approaches, that give me a wide variety of tools to use. It is my intuition in combining the right therapies for each individual client, that get me great results.
Our initial session will consist of an in-depth consultation in Colchester, Wivenhoe or Online, where I will take the history of your experience with anxiety. This explores when you feel it and when you don’t, when it became a part of your life and what was going on for you then and how it limits your life now.
We’ll look at your motivation for resolving it, and create a vision of your future without anxiety, that you can begin to move towards.
In our subsequent sessions I will use a variety of techniques aimed at helping you to overcome the anxiety in the fastest and safest way. This may include traditional hypnosis, EMDR/EMI eye-movement therapy (used by the British Army to resolve PTSD in soldiers returning from war zones), NLP, EFT (also known as tapping) and other healing modalities.
Anxiety treatment takes place in my comfortable clinic in Colchester, Wivenhoe or the comfort of your own home via the internet.
As an anxiety treatment, hypnosis can create positive effects for the individual in as little as one session. With further sessions and use of bespoke hypnotherapy for anxiety MP3 recordings that I create for you, you could experience an end to the anxiety for good.
Using hypnotherapy for panic attacks can help you to be aware of what is triggering your panic attacks as this can often be something that you are not even aware of. Hypnosis can teach you how to control the level of stress that you feel and to help you to stop the panic attack from growing in intensity because you are able to control your reaction to it. Cognitive hypnotherapy for anxiety tackles the issue from the inside out, getting to the root of the problem in your brain so that you can notice the effects sooner than you might imagine.

People who contact me about anxiety treatment in Colchester and online are often confused about what anxiety actually is.
Anxiety is a normal part of life, that everybody experiences to different degrees, in different situations. Anxiety can exist even when it is not clear what the trigger or root cause is. This is unlike stress, where it is often tied to a specific situation (e.g. work or relationships) or thought.
Anxiety can make you feel like you’re going crazy, or that there’s something really wrong with you. It can make you feel like things are worse than they are, or that there’s no way for things to get better. Understanding what anxiety is, and recognising that it is normal and comes about for explainable reasons, can help to reduce the fear about anxiety.
Humans have lived most of their existence on this planet as hunter gatherers, living a caveman-like existence. It’s only been the last few thousands of years that we have lived the way we do now.
As evolution is a slow process, we are still equipped with the body and brain that was designed to survive that caveman-like lifestyle.
Back then, we needed an internal alarm system to protect us from the dangers that waited for us beyond the safety of the tribe. This system was designed to boost our adrenaline levels to increase our heart rate and the amount of oxygen going to our limbs, so that we could be ready to fight or run from any danger. This is what we call the ‘fight or flight’ response. It keeps us from being killed. It keeps us safe.
The trouble is, the things that our brain perceives us as being threatened by in modern life, aren’t actually life threatening. We feel anxious about normal, every day situations, and our body responds in the only way it knows how. It uses the old programming system of fight or flight, and we get those physical sensations related to it.
So we can feel stressed about a significant life event, such as moving house or getting divorced, and our body will only be able to read that in one way. We feel worried about something, therefore it must be life threatening, therefore we need to engage in a fight or run away. Sometimes, we don’t have an indentifiable cause for our anxiety, and this can be distressing.
In terms of therapy, however, that doesn’t matter. As long as we can engage with the physical feelings you get, we don’t ever really need to know what is underlying it.

There can be many different causes of stress that we encounter in our lives. This can be stress in the workplace, stress from relationship issues, stress about an upcoming life change, and many other situations. Clients often say that they can’t ‘switch off’. Cognitive Hypnotherapy helps clients to do exactly that, by investigating the issue from a new perspective and making deep, fundamental changes to the way your brain responds to what’s going on.
